Stay in control. That is very good advice. Obviously there are drugs, Gas, Pethadine or Epidural, but if you would like to go natural then there is an exercise you can do to sretch the perenium. The perenium is the peice of flesh between the vagina and anus. What you do is use your thumbs to gently press on this peice of flesh. Very gently stretching it and massaging it. what this does is open you up more so. It will reduce the possibilty of tearing or the need for epesiotomy. A water birth is very good. I gave birth to my first in the bath and it was definately less painful. The water tends to support you body, and it is heated to body temp, so very relaxing. There are a lot of different techniques you can use during labour, it is a matter of what works for you. You may like you birthing partner to give you a massage or you might be like me and hate the feel of even the most gentle touch while in labour. I hope some of this helps. Good luck, you will do just fine!!!

After giving birth to 5 children, and now expecting twins - the one thing that I put into my birth planner, that I have done for several OB stays - is that I requested that a certain anesthesiologist be there. Epidural!! And last time, since I was induced - they hooked me up before the labor pains got bad - so all they had to do was push a button when I needed it.

Anything else - hurts like heck. You can breathe all you want, do all the massages you want...no way. Go for the meds. Better to have it as easy as possible, because labor is bad enough.

As mad as it sounds, you will probably be in too much pain to think about how much it hurts...I'm a total wimp when it comes to pain and I got through it. Good news is that you forget about it once you have given birth.
You could always go for the epidural, but I found that I managed with only gas and air and focusing on my breathing.
If you are that scared of pain, tell the midwife and she'll get you pain relief. There's no need to suffer if you don't need to.

I wish you all the best for a healthy and happy birth and baby.

Well, I realize I'll be criticized for correcting you, however it is in order that difficult to disregard. The query will have to be "How painful is the delivery of a youngster at the mom?" or extra thoroughly, "How painful is supplying a youngster vaginally?" It's painful, I've been via it two times, and wish to move via it once more 2 extra occasions. I'm married although, and that makes a massive change, my husband used to be via my part the complete time, and supported me in my determination to have an epidural. Which I incredibly endorse!LOL! It made the complete system a lot more great!

you could try raspberry left tea/tablets i swear by them, i start using them from 28weeks and my last 3 births were alot more bearable ( although it could be in my mind )

also as silly as it sounds try to stay in control
breath in through your nose out through your mouth, each pain you get tell your self that this pain is ok coz the next is gonna be worse so every pain you think ok im fine i can cope etc it really helps trust me baby number 5 is due in march and ill be having my 3rd home birth and im the biggest wimp when it comes to pain
try to have something to focus on when the pain is at its peak look at your focal point and breath.

good luck hunni im sure you will be fine x x x x
