You can look into a community theatre. There are usually ones around if you live in the city or near one. Also, you could check with your school to see if they have a theatre department. Maybe having an American accent would help also. Or you could try working on other accents. ;)

Hey I am thirteen too! I am not sure what sort of acting you are into but I am fascinated by musicals. I am gonna try and write one about kansas city jazz which odviously will need american accent in it. I have had ideas maybe for when I am older setting up a club that will run in theatres for children in summer holidays. If you would like email me back on crazydougdoug@hotmail.co.uk and I can keep in touch! If you have msn just add my adress and I will be pleased to speak to you about it. Thankyou I hope you do write back!

Try out for the school play. Americans are a lot better at doing English accents, than the other way around. Have you noticed?

I love acting and dancing too. I am a member of the local dance school and also do some extra drama through school. Go to open auditions for productions, over Christmas I am appearing in a panto. I love doing pantos: lots of dancing, singing and acting and I only have to miss one day of school. Get to know people there and they will let you know about anymore auditions and shows.

You use the word "work" so I'm assume you want a paid job rather than a drama group.

You would have to re-schedule school via private lessons in the evening/weekends.

A studio is not going to re-schedule all the adults jobs because you like going to school

Your accent may be a plus point, discuss it with your manager.

For now, get in touch with your local amateur groups - they will tend to rehearse and perform in the evenings after school hours. A lot of fringe professional companies will tend to only want those over 16 or 18, unfortunatly. Get the experience, and in a few years youll be fine for all sorts of roles.

Alternativly, I believe there are acting agencies, especially in London, that specialise in children/teens, so it may be worth seeking them out with your parents.

aaaaaaaa.....it's kind of hard but I think you'll get used to the accent from UK if you spend a few years here...as for acting..it's rather hard...I wanted to do that very much but no one was serious enough..it depends on the city you live in and your parents' opinion..if they are like "whatever" it will be harder

Contact your local drama and/or operatic society, you can join them. This is a great way to get experience.

Don't worry about your accent, it could benefit you when that suits you and you can learn to disguise it when it doesn't.

Good luck and enjoy yourself.
