In 2005, Carl Edwards was the rookie who turned everyone's head. This year it was Denny Hamlin. Next year's rookie crop will consist of Juan Pablo Montoya, A.J. Allmendinger and a few other new, young drivers. Who's NASCAR's next rookie sensation and why?

If you go by the hype that is given in the press release the there is no doubt the Juan Pablo Montoya is the next "hotshot" hands down. But after seeing A.J. Allmendinger in a few races I think he is one to watch also.None of the rest have impressed me yet.

First of all, Hamlin was in the right places at the right times. See what he does next year (pullin' up the rear) during the season. It maybe a Menard, a Martin kid, or a Wallace kid. Those three may have the best chance because NASCAR and racing is in their blood. And some help from their racing relatives they'll KNOW what it takes. No offense but the Latin community don't get your hopes up YET. I don't think Montoya will be completely comforable in NASCAR in the up coming year.

I think David Gillaland, because he has already won a pole and he led a few laps and it took him a few races to get the hang of the Nextel cup style of racing and he ran towards the back of the pack like in the 30th position or so but now hes doing good. Dont forget their will be David Regan who will be mentored by Mark Martin, and other then that I think you covered all the rookies so David Gilliland has a good shot at being the Hotshot.

Now that his rookie season is almost over, I think David Stremme will be someone worth watching. And in a year or two, Steve Wallace-as long as he takes after dad and not uncle Mike or uncle Kenny. Good guys, but not the greatest drivers.

Mark Martin's son is growing up. Last I heard he was racing go carts locally. Keep an eye out for him. If he's anything like his ol' man he'll be a hand full.

Paul Menard!! He is the only Busch series regular who was able to hold his own against a slew of Buschwackers for the past two seasons.
