First things first - when I planned my wedding, I followed 3 general planning "truisms." These helped me get in the right mindset. When it came to actually completing tasks, I followed a specific planning timeline; I set goals for myself and checked them off one at a time. I found a useful timeline on Elegala.com - you enter your wedding date, and it gives you a customized checklist; I've included the link below.

On to the truisms....

1.Personal Style Rules
The most memorable weddings reflect the unique personalities of each couple exchanging “I dos.” So go ahead and break from tradition. Who needs another cookie-cutter wedding? Remember, not all brides wear white, not all ceremonies take place in a house of worship, not all colors are “blush and bashful.” Forget what your future grandmother-in-law would say and dare to be different.

2.Mind your Inner Bride
Emerge from the pile of fabric swatches, font styles and contracts and…just…breathe. During your engagement, don’t be afraid to step away from it all and take time to enjoy yourself as a single woman. Plan some girls’ nights or enjoy a romantic evening with your fiancé. It doesn’t matter what you do on these “bridal breaks”— just don’t, under any circumstances, think about the wedding.

3.Beware the Budget
No matter your financial situation, every bride faces budget concerns. Regardless of who plans to foot the bill, start saving now to avoid some heated financial discussions. If you absolutely cannot exceed a magic number, aim to spend 15 percent less than that. It’s a great way to avoid last-minute credit card transactions—and wedding-day woes.

Congratulations! Think about what you and your fiance like and incorporate that into your planning. Don't worry about anyone else. It won't be their wedding, it's yours and you should do what the two of you enjoy. You could maybe start by deciding what you would like your main color to be and then choose one or two accent colors to match. Then decide if you want formal, ultra formal, romantic or casual. For example, if you both like country, you could use horseshoes and hay bales in the decorating. If you like the formal look, tall elegant candle holders and fancy florals can be used. For a romantic feel, setting up a canopy of flowers, vines or even billowy fabric would be wonderful for you to take your vows under. While what you will be doing is of serious nature, the wedding is also a celebration of the two of you so there is no reason in the world why the atmosphere can't be fun and reflect your personalities. I had pink haired wedding trolls on top of my cake and I wore white tennis shoes that my mom decorated with gems, pink satin laces and troll bow biters! Congrats again and best wishes to you!

the only tip i would give is to WATCH YOUR SPENDING!!! Granted its something you only do once in a lifetime, (most people) but you should remember that after youve spent so much money on the big day, and everyone has had a great time and congratulated you on 'what a wonderful wedding it was'.... you and hubby will be on your own thereafter... save a bit for the food youll need in the future!
Good luck and all the best

well, first think abt the kind of occassion u want it to be, glamourous, a simple occasion? where do u want the venue to be, indoor or out door? how many guests do you want to have? do u need maids? who will be your matron? what colour do u prefer? these questions will then lead u to start arranging for the occassion?

wish u the best
