Of the Lib Dem's ever 'coming to power' and running the country?
Or will English politics be a bouncing ball between Labour and Conservative for eternity? Or could another party get in ther and take over Westminster?

Lib dems do well in local elections as they do lots of feelgod work unfortunatly they usually overspend, then have to hike council tax and or government bail them out. You get horror stories like in my town where the library couldn't buy books for the new school term to help students, but hey ho. I couldn't trust lib dems financially to run country.

These days all the three main parties tend to stay in the safe zone, with no extremist views. Politics is no longer about having different opinions, it is just a chance for the parties to get in to power, but they all use the power for the sames things. I think the only chance of a lib dem win would be if they came up with some contraversial policies, which the majority of the population decided would actually be benficial.

Very very slim, where would they get the money from?
UK politics have always been very simple to my way of thinking!
The Labour party are mainly supported by the Trade unions, (workers if you like)! and are supposed to represent the interests of that group!
The Conservative party are supported by the Confederation of British Industry, (Employers if you like)! and they really do support the employers!
The Libs?? I havent got a clue who supports that party, I do know they represent tree huggers and people who wish not to hang after committing murders, I can only ever remember them floating about in their own little world ! They may from time to time manage to split a vote and gain by getting a few of their polices accepted in return for votes, but apart from that hardly any chance at all, some voters just use them as a protest vote to show the government they are not very happy.
I see no reason to change my opinion the Labour party still (after a fashion) looking after the workers! The Conservatives still looking after number one and all Ex Public school types!
And the Libs are still floating about aimlessly, (in between hugging trees, whilst wearing large green rubber boots)
Hope this helps??!!

Never, because they spend their entire lives sitting on the fence and trying to come up with a 3rd alternative option to the other 2.

What kind of way is that to run a country? Surely there is only one way to run the country properly - the right way! Problem is all the wrong people are in the seats of responsibility.

The other problem is each political party has to be different from the others to 'trap votes' and the Liberals are no different in that respect.

I think that it shows what a bunch of useless tw@ts the Libdems are that they have been unable to capitalise on the corrupt Labour and Tory parties. Nowadays, no one votes for either Labour or Tory because they like them, people vote for them because they hate one less than the other. And still the Libdems trail a poor third place!

Vote for any other party or an independent!

No chance for the lib dems,no one strong enough to take the bush baby on,or sort out dictators from around the globe who seem to be springing up willy nilly now.We need a peoples party, with leaders who don't lie, leaders who are strong confident people, who can answer questions directly and actually HEAL this country of ours, who can sort out NHS,transportation, taxation, immigration, etcetc.Leaders who have no problem going back to morals and principals-who will sort out once and for all the criminal fraternity-jeez,i could go on and on and on and on,i really must get off my soap box now!!

it won't happen for at least another generation but it may happen eventually if Labour and the Tories keep messing things up.
I don't believe another party out of the big three will ever stand a chance of getting into power but the BNP may become a bigger force because they will continue to play the race card.

I think they could have a chance if they re-think their party strategy! They have to stop being in the middle and make a distinct character for themselves. Something different from Tories and labour. Above all the should have an inspiring and charismatic leader who has vision and can attract more members to the party ideology and direction.

English politics???!!!! This country you are talking about is Britian - and don't say Scotland etc. has their own parliament - I know I'm still paying for it! - all 440million pounds of it! and I don't even want it - and our parliament has no rights regarding real issues for example taxes - so whats the point of it! - it doesn't matter which party get into Westminster - at the end of the day they will still argue over the same matters - and the British public will still be ignored.

I used to vote LibDem, but they really seem to have gone into the background with their new leader. Personally I think they should have kept Charles Kennedy, after all Churchil was keen on his booze, if they got into power it would be like the country being run by Sir Digby Chicken-Ceaser!

Never count them out though because the Liberals used to be in power in the last century!
