A nice gift card plus a nice greeting card. The gift card she can shop for what she wants.
I live 1500 miles away from my mother so it's the best thing I can do. When I'm in town where she lives I will get a nice present, wrap it and tell her she has to wait to open it.
We talk on the phone several times a week...but only get to see her in person once a year...sometimes more.

I'm a mother and I ask my kids to by a movie or a CD. I have what I want and need. I don't want to worry about what to do with a gift that I wouldn't chose for myself. Occasionally they send flowers and I end up with 3 or 4 flower arraignments. Too many. Just a card or most of all a big hug.
