Eating a couple of Bananas before hand helps or feminex tablets or try the heat pads that you can put on under your top and it stays heated for something like 8 hours so it helps the pain.

When I looked after disabled kids in a nursery, I once had very severe pains. After spending the morning bouncing around in the ball pool with them (very physical) I found I was exhausted and completely pain-free. Then I went on the contraceptive pill to control the pain, which worked a treat.

So, exercise and painkillers for now, and if you suffer each month then get yourself on the pill, if you can.

Hot water bottles help with any ills, as does chocolate or other comfort food. Good luck.

Purchase a hot bean wrap from your local chemist (they usually smell of lavender and are used to hang around your neck) you pop them in the microwave for 2 mins and tey heat up. works the same way a hot water bottle does but is safer and more comfortable. They usually cost around £10 but i would not be without mine. it covers a multitude of aches and pains where hotwaterbottles just cant reach

I normally get the Icy Hot pro-therapy patch [they have one specifically for cramps] and wear it during work hours. It applies heat that relieves the pain. They tend to run about $4-$6 at drugstores

Try rubbing them, or stretching them, as the pain is also the muscles contracting. Take a midol or two as well.
Exercise helps releive cramps as well.
Heat will help also, if you are at home, a hot water bottle or those heatable bean bags work too. For at work, you can buy these things called MAXX PATCH they are self heating, you put it on your lower tummy and it heats up, it stays warm for like 8 hours or something, and its very thin so no one will ever know. They really work, I use them:)

I always find that if you warm your tummy up against a radiator always soothes the pain away....try a hot water bottle on your lap against your tummy if you have a sit down job. Otherwise nurofen does quite a good job as a painkiller.

I was told its a good idea to stretch them out, since period pain is caused by cramps, as your womb expels its lining. Don't forget the paracetamol though.
