I think we, as a whole, are very self-absorbed and I think, on some level, that in order to be a celebrity, there must be a degree of narcissism. So, it makes sense that our culture would lend itself to a celebrity obsessed society. Just a thought...

Celebrity watching is like letting someone else do the living so you don't have to. It's sad, as far as I am concerned.

People who live their lives fully wouldn't need to follow every twitch of Brad and Ange. (This isn't a dig. I watch people watch celebrities, and know it's true -- pretty sad, huh?)

No reason at all. We actually equalise success, monetary gain with celebrity and they are not the cultural icon either.

We like to live through other people, that's why the idiot box is so popular. People don't have a life, most don't like where they are and who they are,, they just wish and dream cause theirs isn't , hoping to be like them.
