Weight, cost, fire hazard, bendability (plastic you can form into any shape), practicality, durability (wood has a habit of loosing its finish as well as warping & cracking more easier than plastic)

It is purely a cost demand issue. It holds a higher cost in material and shipping due to higher weight, and there is little to no demand from consumers for a TV made with wood.

Wood is a very good commodity now.
They've duplicated it & don't need to use the real thing anymore.
For asthetics (?) it's better to use futuristic plastics.
More modern looking.

Because other materials such as plastic are much more risk-free and much better (more durable, easier to produce, easier to colour, etc.)
