It depends on the way you're searching for stuff, and the quality you want to get.

With emule, you can search all connected computers for a file named "Knoppix". However, if a malicious user decides to download a porn movie and hide it by renaming it "Knoppix", you will get a porn movie instead of your Linux distribution.

However there are several websites to get edonkey links, that find files via an unique checksum instead of a filename.

Make sure, that you download emule from the official www.emule-project.net, as a lot of other emule sites bundle emule with spyware and/or trojans.

Another popular P2P client works via Bittorrent. The Bittorrent protocol ensures, that you don't get any fake files like in a emule search. However you need a website that links to the Torrent file.
Currently there is no way to search for Torrent files like in emule.

A popular Windows program is Azureus available at www.getazureus.com

It used to be Kazaa, but right now I think limewire is in the top spot. Bit torrent isn't technically peer to peer is it? Anyway, a lot of people use it, but the interface isn't nearly as convenient, I've had better results with limewire.

Hi,
You can download Emule for free here http://j.mp/1qd9PY1

To use eMule, just connect to a server or the Kad network, search for the file you want to download, and wait for the download to complete. It is surely the best free open source P2P client.

I think that using torrents as much as possible is the best solution. I like Utorrent. Limewire and others like it put spyware on your PC.

Limewire, http://www.limewire.com

There is also bittorent:
Bittorent is a bit more advanced and requires configuration if a router is present. read up more on bittorent before trying it by googling it or typing it in a yahoo search engine.

Hope this helps.
