Why not buy pine and use an oak stain or wax. I think this would probably be more hardwearing. Doors and skirting take a lot of knocks and a thin layer of veneer would damage quite easily. I think pine would also be a lot cheaper.

Are you looking for a place to purchase them? Buying oak veneer doors is fine. Doors do not get as banged up as everyone says when they comment on these things. Pine is a soft wood and would not come close to matching the color of oak when stained. The only other wood being able to do that would be Ash and it's more expensive.

Any of your Home Depot places or others can order them for you.

Since you purchased oak doors, I assume you want to keep the wood grain finish. I'd use a Vara-thane product. Preferable a clear semigloss or satin finish.
