This 'class' thing seems to have appeared a lot recently on this forum, I wonder why?
I can remember taking out my very first mortgage, it was in the
'hay days' of the hire purchase Dollar Down, Dollar a week crack.
The only people having any benefit from that scam were the people lending out the money (same applies now)!
However I digress(again)!!
Working folk taking out a mortgage and now 'owning' property suddenly thought they were up a notch in the so called 'class' status! I thought it pathetic then and I think its pathetic now!
But look on the bright side the 'class' thing is slowly dying out, what is it anyway? Nothing to do with having money, the real so called 'upper class' dont accept the new rich as part of their clan!
How to convince working people that the idea of class is a load of cra* is another matter, we are being ripped off left right and centre, and a lot of us actually think big buisiness is doing us a favour by lending us money ! You can blame a lot of that on TV ad's!!
"In debt ? borrow from us and pay off your bills"!!
If we believe that we can believe in anything!!
Up the workers!!! And Right up the rich!!

Being that social relationships are more important to success than more boring things like... actual talent (see President Bush), there is a hope amongst working chumps that if they just find the right rich conservative *** to kiss, that they will be made a member of the club.

Today we call these people suckers. Not unexpectedly, this is also a metaphor for evangelical Christianity as well.

Contempt.

It is necessary for a person to exaggerate the difference that separates one's self from the object of their contempt.

There are many hard working American poor people who end up with next to nothing after a lifetime of very hard work. They are still the objects of much comtempt directed at them.

T.V. and Repubs tell them they are.

Remember that lady who went to a Bush campaign town meeting and told how she never sees her kids and has to work 3 jobs to make ends meet?

Bush replied something like "wow...isnt that great, only in America can you have THREE jobs!".

LoL. Good thing she wasn't armed.

Most people don't like believing that they are poor, even if they are.

It also helps to keep them in line. When the mass majority feel that they are poor, revolution is in the making.
