a client who is a designer recently broke another appt. to meet with me. No phone call again ! 2 yrs ago I made every window treatment in her own home , all went well. I overlooked the 1st time she was a no show but now she does it again, I'm so angry that I want to tell her to never bother me again, am i being too sensitive ? I want to be professional, but just because she lives in a million dollar home, does that give her the right to be such a jerk?

We have this little thing called a 'service fee' or 'appointment fee' which would be in your case.

We just add it into the next bill. If they are a good customer or if the sales is in a decent volume range then we credit it back out but we make sure it shows on the invoice so they know they would have had to pay it.

It might help to include something about an appointment fee in your advertising or quotes. Small print but there none-the-less.

She doesn't have a right to be a jerk.
Being in business you must check your emotions a the door, After the first time you might have called her and talked to her about missing the appointment, you are sure it's an oversight but hope it won't happen again. Try a technique used by a friend of mine when her employees were chronically late to meetings, schedule them at odd times, Yes meet with me at 2:17 PM etc..
Also if it happens again, bill her for your time, you may or may not get paid but it will send a clear message - your time is valuable.
remember a satisfied customer will tell an average of 2 people about her good experience a dissatisfied customer will tell more than 20.

No it doesnt give her that right. You could have used that time with another client, so you may have lost out on money.

I dont know how you could set it up, but perhaps somewhere where you talk about NSF cheques in your contracts, or in signs at your store, mention cancellation fees. If she calls back and, let her know you will be calling the day before as a reminder of the appointing and that on the day of, if she is a no show then there will be a small cancellation fee whatever you feel is appropriate. Collecting that may be an issue, but if she knows this may happen, then it may deter her at least.

Just don't care. If she ants to see you again go ahead, but make it so that the inconvenience is to her and not to you, don't let her mess with you. Don't tell her off, unless your going to give her something she'll never forget, that's just going to show a lot of weakness from your part. she will definitely feel as though she's got you.
