Or if you know of anyone who's had preterm labor. Please share with me the condition of the baby.

I was put in the hospital at 34 weeks for preclampsia. I then had my son at 35 weeks along. And he did fine and he came home with me after 48 hrs. being in the hospital. He only weighted 5lbs and 14 ozs. at birth. He now is 6 months old and almost 20 pounds. Hope everything goes well with you and the baby... GOOD LUCK!

I went into labour about my 24th week and was in labour from 8pm in the evening until 3am the next morning and did not realise it. Anyway went to the hospital and they gave me an injection to try to stop the contractions, which did not work, at 7.45am my baby was born, but she was not breathing, the doctor resuscitated her and took her straight to Neo Natal ICU, it was touch and go for a long time and almost three months later weighing in at 1.7 kg's we were allowed to go home. (She was 920grammes at birth).

Today she is a healthy toddler (2 and a half) and is too clever for words and so far she has not had any major problems. She was always quick to catch the flu but her immune system is so much more stronger now and she is now a really big girl.

Good luck with you, one thing you will need to have is a lot of patience and hope because when they get sick in the hospital you sometimes lose hope, but then they bounce back, and then everything is o.k. again.

My cousin-in-law had her baby at 22 weeks. It was very scary and her daughter was in the hospital for about 3 or 4 months until she had grown enough to come home. She was delayed in her speech and other areas and had a low immune system and couldn't be around the public for fear of catching something. She went through speech therapy and motor skills training when she was very, very young. However, she is now 4 years old and doing well. I think she has caught up to other kids her age and will be attending regular school. Good luck!

With my first baby I had contractions 2months early and had to go to hospital and stay there on medication and bedrest. I eventually had a c-section at almost full term. My daughter was born with hypotonia (low muscle tone) and had quite a few problems during her childhood but now is an adult with child of her own and is doing fine. With second baby I was put into hospital 4 weeks before for bed rest and he was born 2wks early but was a very strong boy. With my third child I had not choice but to stay at home and rest when I could and he was born full term. Pre-term labor is something I would not wish on any pregnant woman. It is very worrying indeed.
