It means there is no signal from the computer. Check both ends of the cable going to the monitor, that it's plugged in properly and hasn't fallen out.

Failing that, if it's connected and the PC is on, then you can try a few things. If you have a spare monitor, plug that in and see if you get an image. If that works then it's your original monitor that's at fault.

If it doesn't work then pay attention to the computer when you turn it on. Does it sound like it normally does? Does the hard drive seem to make the normal booting up noises, or is there no activity from the hard drive? If not, then something in your computer is preventing it from booting and displaying anything. I had this when something was plugged in the wrong way round in a PCI slot on the motherboard.

Alternatively, your computer might make lots of beeps when it boots up. These are diagnostic beep codes, and you can normally find out what these mean in the troubleshooting section of your computers literature, or by going to the computer manufacturer website and reading the documentation online.

This might help pinpoint where the problem lies, but it could be the graphics card or the RAM.

Does that help at all? It's likely that the cable has just come out of the PC or monitor though. It's just not receiving a signal.

I don't know if you'll find the page below any help.

All the best, and I hope I've helped.

Either no signal, or dead. Try checking cables and swap monitors if possible.
