Why people fear with the dark?

Because in the dark, one is not aware of what is in front , at the back an beside him. Fear of the unknown is what makes them afraid of the dark. Fear of not knowing what lies around the darkness and in the darkness.

Some people fear the dark because of an evolutionary trend to survive. If no one had feared darkness how would the lightbulb been created?

Basically it all comes back to instinct.... when you cannot see very well it makes it possible for predators to sneak up on you, compounding the fear of darkness is the fact that most predators hunt at night. Instinctively you know that night is the most dangerous time for an attack and also since we humans can no longer rely on other senses like hearing and smell we feel very vulnerable when deprived of our most relied upon sense.. sight. When we cant see well it sometimes causes us to panic because we instinctively know we are vulnerable to predators that can see well in the dark. Also other reasons like scary stories, folk tales and superstitions etc can cause more fear of the dark. It is the same reason why the howling of wolves still causes us to react with fear even though they no longer prey upon us, our instincts tell us they are capable of doing so. Just like we know there is nothing to fear from darkness itself, but our instincts tell us that the darkness of night is the most vulnerable time for prey such as ourselves..

Because your mind can't depict some of the things in the dark so it tries to make something out of what it sees or what your thinking.Its scary because in movies or from experience usually something bad or creepy is in the dark so your mind might use that.

Because in the dark , monsters can sneak up on you, and turn your hair white in a split second! They can scare you so bad by sneaking up on you that you can be found beside yourself, as they are chewing off your arm, and chomping away at your face as you scream with dismay.Then off goes your leg, but your still standing, how are you going to get back into your ingested body?

Dark is the absence of light and when light is gone youre "Cones" become less usefull and youre "rods" start working. Unluckily you have more cones then you do rods so you see color esier then light. (you see color changes 10x faster then light). So in the absence of "L" you cant see as much. When you cant see as much youre imagination starts morphing shadows into horrorbile things. So you begin to be afraid of what is in youre closet or why that shadow is there.

well it has always been when a baby is causing a nuisance then the ppl tell him that a bad man will come and take him or there is ghost in the attic or somthing. ..................well this creates an impression in his mind and he starts to fear the dark probably so might b ppl when they grow up r still afraid bcoz they too r not sure whether the ghost really exist or no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
