Absolutely NOT! Most people have lost the concept of manners, they eat/talk with their mouth full of food. They do not know which utensil to eat with. They don't know how to use a napkin. They don't know an entree from an appetizer. They don't know a dinner. It's pathetic. The eat chew with their mouth full of food. People burp and belch in public as if they are a wild animal. It's appalling. What has happened to society. They "slurp" their soup.

No Agasti manners belong to the present. It always has belonged to the present and in the future it will be the same. Without manners a social rule of disrespect creeps into the wee fabrics of daily living.
With that comes a small feeling of worthlessness; this feeling grows into a large problem in your life. Albeit a long time coming never the less the details of your life dictate your living conditions. If you have no manners it basically means you have no respect for others.
That's a poor way to live.

Definitely not! Manners are what we use to make others more comfortable. There isn't any less of a need to put others at ease than there ever was.

It's unfortunate that good manners don't seem to be used as often today, but they really should be. Perhaps parents should be going back to the basics - teaching children table manners, proper ways to address strangers, etc. It would help foster respect for each other in a big way.

No. They are being used today. Its just a manner of asking.
Today generation doesn't seem to understand the concept.
Manners are learned and taught at home. If no one teaches how could manners be used. I know there isn't much of it around these days.

Lack of any kind of manners is the problem today. I am far from 'prim & proper', but common respect would go a LONG way in today's chaotic world. With respect, people would think twice before doing drugs, drinking excessively, and having many babies with many different men ! (hey, girls, please just keep your knees together!) Manners, & therefore mutual respect, would go a long way towards fixing the state of affairs in this world.

'Emily Post' ? Not necessarily, but how about a little bit of respect for yourself & others !

That is what it appears to be. The old world charm in the manners of the people has been slowly waning, unfortunately. The human values are slowly dying away. You are correct. Let us mourn and yearn for the past.

Not in my book.
I have absolutely no respect for an ill mannered person. I have taught my children good manners so that no matter where they go they will be comfortable in their surroundings.
Manners will always be in vogue. Those with out them seldom succeed or achieve.
Be well friend.

Nope.. Manners-is just a matter of ur choice. If you choose to be good, polite, etc., then you will be, and if you chose to be bad, rebel, etc., then that's it.

Choice... decision... mind... all of us have minds. Then better use it.
