Kindergarteners are really interested in science, so be sure to present the activity as a science activity and give them some details to get them excited. Tell them about the owl pellets--where they came from, what information they can tell us--get them interested.

Then, be sure to let them participate in the disection--let them cut the pellets, look at them under a magnifying glass or microscope, have them draw a picture of what they look like. Also, using the five senses is a key component of kindergarten science and inquiry, so find ways of allowing the students to use their senses and help them record their thoughts.

You're going to be just fine! :) Have fun and they will, too!

Ask them a lot of questions. They like to play guessing games. What do you think an owl would eat? How often do you think an owl eats? How far do you think an owl could fly? You just need to remember a few basic facts and let them take their time getting to the answers.

My partner and i run a falconry school and offer to visit schools with our birds including owls. Many off the classes we visit are studying owls and wild life and having a living breathing specimen right there in the class room soon gets there attention. we also offer a flying display on the school playing fields afterward. See if you can find some one who could do that for you.

Oh my gosh. Thats horrible...Poor owl....well make it amusing and they wont get bored...and make it fun for them...maybe intergrate some card magic....kids are always amazed by simple card tricks...and their easy to learn. Or tell interesting stories.

make it fun for them... make jokes (that they woulod understand), talk in a fun voice nothing monotone... goof around but don't get the kid in trouble and let the kid do a lot of the work... don't do it all for him
