Several things...first, the machines in the pharmacies are not well maintained. kids get in them and play and it throws off their calibration.
Diet, what did you eat or drink before you took your BP -- caffeine can cause it to go up
Smoking (the nicotine) is a poison that they spray on the tobacco plants to kill the bugs is a stimulant and can cause your BP to go up
Anything scary or frightening before you took your BP (stress can cause it to go up)
To be classified as hypertensive, you should have your BP checked about 4-5 times over a 2-3 week period at the same time daily by a real person. If it is 110-120/60-70 on more than one occasion, you may have hypertension.
Watch your salt intake, 2 grams a day or less (read the labels on the foods that you eat. Do not add salt to your foods. Most foods are preserved with salt to stop them from decomposing. The article that I linked you to is a very thorough and easy to read article...good luck...remember to see your doctor, :)

That bp is getting kind of high. But, we need to look at factors such as what you were doing just before you took the bp. If you were exercising, it will rise. If you were driving in the car and yelling at people, it will rise. I had a similar bp recently and ended up going to the doctor so I would not have a heart attack or stroke. I ended up having high blood pressure due to high anxiety and stress. I was put on an anti-anxiety medicine and my blood pressure has returned to normal. If this is similar to what you are experiencing, see the doctor. It does not hurt to be healthy.

One bp measurement does not make you hypertensive. You will have to go your MD to get this diagnosed. Mind you technically 148/94 is stage 2 hypertension, so you really need to get this looked into. There are many factors which could artifically raise your bp. Another issue, I don't know how accurate the bp machine is.

It is too early to worry, but you should take further action.
I would probably make an appointment with my own doctor today, if I were you. The machine could be faulty.
The wrist is not the most reliable location. it works if the blood circulation is good in the arm.
The best place to take blood pressure is the upper arm.
The ideal pressure is less than 120 over less than 80.
Causes or influencers of permanent or temporary hign blood pressure may be: coffee, stress, fear, anxiety, too much sodium in the diet, non-optimal amount of vitamin C (it seems to help preserve elasticity of the arteries), overweight. There might be a genetic factor. Atherosclerosis i.e. blocked or partially blocked arteries seem to be signalled by high blood cholesterol. Eating only a small amount of saturated fat seems to help. Exercise is important. Sleep. mediation could be useful.

I recommend that you have your blood pressure taken again, but at a different place and time. Still, a diastolic pressure of 94 for someone your age is high. I would definitely have it checked out somewhere else, perhaps at your doctor's office.
Don't allow things like that to slide.
In the meantime, cut down on salt intake and get some mild exercise, like walking.

along with all of the above a blood pressure cuff that is too small gives you a high reading..check with your M.D. to be on the safe side..heart attacks and strokes are easier to prevent than cure..
