India played its first ODI match against England on 13 July 1974,Leeds (Headingley) in a 60-over match. India lost the match by 4 wickets.

India played their 1st One Day International Match in the Prudential Trophy 1974 against England on 13.07.1974 at
Headingly, Leeds under the Catpaincy of Mr. Ajit Wadekar.
England won the match by 4 wickets.
