Shot to death in his courtroom by Norman W. Moon, in the Warren County Courthouse, Warren, Warren County, Pa., January 13, 1954. Moon, who attempted suicide at the time of his arrest, was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to death; the sentence was commuted to a mental institution by Gov. George M. Leader, and then to life imprisonment. Interment at Oakland Cemetery, Warren, Pa.
