Does anyone know if there have been any studies done that link nightmares with body temp during sleep?!

May sound silly---but it's not, to me....

Serious answers only, please.

Well, what's been happening:

I've been having the most horrible, realistic nightmares lately. I thought at first, it had something to do with getting sober...

But I've been that for awhile---gone through my DT's, panic attacks, etc...

Now, it seems like with the seasons changing, I go to bed cold, & then can't wake up in the morning cuz I'm totally stuck in this nightmare stuff.
I feel like I'm going nuts.

But I finally told my Mom about it; & she told me that when I was a young girl, I used to do the same thing---wake up crying, or fall out of bed, whatever...& the only thing she, my Dad & my Mamere (who lived w/ us) could agree on was, it was always when I was too hot!! They'd find me on the floor, covered in sweat & shaking (when I was nine!! LOL!! Go figure!)

So, anywhooo....that's happening again. I had some nightmares after my first husband died---but those were nothing like this...
I'l quit babbling, now---thanks for your help.

not sure but I reckon there would have been. Look up psyche journals or thesis papers online (will show up accessible Unis and sometimes thesis documents) and key in nightmare and body temp and it will search the database for journals with those 2 words in the title.

Increased body temperature normally is a result of a bad dream. And it is also impossible for people to dream with low temp body logically bcoz the body cannot be at rest/sleep if body tem is also low.

I don't know good question. I am gonna go with yes though. Do mean if your too warm when you sleep you have worse dreams or if you having a bad dream you body temperature rises?? I am pretty sure all aspects of dreams have been studied !!

I don't know of any studies, but I do know that when people have a high fever they will often have nightmares.

i don't know if there is any study about it but it make sense to me as far as people who have fever tend to hallucinate as result of their brain has been over heated

I do believe that sleeping too warm or too cold causes disturbed sleep and more dreams....possibly bad dreams....
