I've been openeing vitamin E softgels and putting the liquid on my recent cuts which some are still open... I heard this can help with the scaring? Is that true? Is it bad to do this? Can it make me sick?

the function of Vitamin E is to protect the body cells.

If a free radical comes attacking a cell.. Vit. E will sacrifice itself to protect the cell.

Some lotions have vitamin E so they won't get rancid immediately.. and protect the outer layer of the skin from pollution, etc. and most likely vit. E is applied externally... not on open wounds... because inner body can't absorb vit. E without taking it internally wherein it has to be synthesized to its proper form.

So vit. E, has no effect on scarring...

I have been putting vitamin E oil on a scar in order to make it fade some.

Vitamin E oil is good to put on your tummy when pregnant to help prevent stretch marks. You can buy Vitamin E oil in a bottle that will be the same as the soft-gel. Just to be on the safe side I would use triple antibiotic ointment until the cut started to heal-this will help with scaring as well.

Vitamin E helps you heal. I'm not sure about the scarring. Since you are using the soft-gels there is no reason that they should make you sick.
