Some Agencies of international recruitments, charge the candidates it is very usual.
In your case please confirm the job details, etc. with related to job security, work-permit in UK, etc.
Do not try to pay them anything first, if then want they can deduct from you salary later - try to fix this way. Get more details from your friends in UK regardig this employment there, whcih will help you to decide on this job.... best of luck...
