Does anyone have an offical poll or stats to back up their claim?

Street? Broadway, in NYC. Because of the theater and it just kind of became shorthand for the city, for fame, for making it big.
I don't have stats but if you went and googled all the references in, for example, songs, I will bet you would find more references to Broadway than to even Wall Street.

Road? the old Route 66.

Wall St. It does seem like every town has a Broadway though. Except our town and the main street is Shamrock Street, what else for an Irish community.

Wall Street, New York City.
Not only is it a suprisingly small street, you cant even drive a car down it, Wall Street, more than anything, represents financial and economic power. To Americans, Wall Street can sometimes represent elitism and power politics and cut-throat capitalism, but it also stirs feelings of pride about the market economy. Wall Street, despite the inevitable corruption, became the symbol of a country and economic system that many Americans see as having developed not through colonialism and plunder, but through trade, capitalism, and innovation.

Route 66 is probably the most famous highway. As far as streets are concerned.....well, there are so many famous ones....Bourbon St., Sunset Strip, goodness, I can't get on that rollll, I'd be here all night...super question!!

I'd also have to go w/Bourbon Street. When you think parties and drunks, you think Bourbon St. When you think crime and obsenities you think Bourbon St. Mardi Gras? Still Bourbon. Floods, hurricanes, government assistance? New Orleans, which leads to thoughts of Bourbon St. Jazz, musicians, nudie bars, once again Bourbon St. Seems like it just covers all aspects of life, doesn't it?
