My mum in 1940`s had a Kidney removed and has time went
by the kidney grew much larger to compensate for having
just one.she had a long an useful life,working and earning a living The loss of the kidney never bothered her or affected her in
any way.

More info needed - what exactly did the surgery involve? A full nephrectomy? Is there any follow up treatment like chemotherapy or radiotherapy?
