For those idiots that didn't understand the question. I need advice not smart remarks PLEASE. My girl and I had argued on our cell phones. I knew she had been drinking and I didn't want to argue for fear of it esculating so I told her I was not at home(I was). Her keys were in the apartment so she broke the window out and I called the cops just to insure that I was not to be blamed for anything/and to make sure things to not go any further. They take her to jail for public intox and domestic violence and noone has been touched. I only want to know is there a way out of the domestic violence without people saying how stupid this was. I don't recall any of us being perfect. Hind sight is 20/20. Thanks for any descent replies this time.

You can drop the charges I think, that depends upon the local laws though. You can also make a statement as you did here, letting them know that not all of it was her doing, as you had a hand in the incident as well since you could have unlocked the door (even though I would not have wanted a confrontation either). Explain why the window was broken and why you called the law in on it. Also keep your cool when doing this, as you will be taken more seriously. One other thing - you both should apologize to each other. Yes hindsight is 20/20, and we all have made mistakes in our lives, both big and small.

I don't know about Florida, but in SC the police can press the charges of domestic violence - I believe so that they don't have to keep going into the same domestic violence dangerous type situations. Anyway- if you called and talked to the cop on duty (call local law enforcement div. and ask for him by name ) he can probably answer your questions and if you are really nice he may be able to help you get the charges dropped

If you're asking what are the consequences for domestic violence, I believe according to the level of it you just go to jail for a certain amoutnt of time and they just let you out without bail. I'm 75% sure.

Just don't press charges and there will be no problems with it.
It may be a wake-up call for her to stop drinking so much, since her drinking seems to get her into problems.

i think as long as you don't press any charges against your girlfriend, the charges will be dismiss. the police will keep her until she sobers up, then you can pick her up and take her for a cup of coffee and talk about what happen and how to prevent from not happening again. good luck
