I'm trying to do front and back flips, but I'm a little scared to try it. Is there a way to do it without gymastics? If so, what's the best way? And is 15 TOO OLD TO START? I'm only talking about flips or handstands; not those splits and balance beam things they do in gymnastics and such.

15 is not too old. If you really insist on not taking a class, which is the safest and funnest way, then make sure you have someone present and do this on a soft surface.
Here are some tips for doing a back handspring.

Practice on an incline mat. When you feel you are falling, its time to jump and jump hard! Keep your arms straight and strong and push off. Keep arms by your head at all times!

Arch a Little, but if you over arch it is a BIG mess.

Bend your knees slightly, arch a little bit, and push you shoulders open as much as you can. Then using your stomach, back, and arm muscles, snap your body back to a hollow position, pushing off your hands, and land on your feet on the floor in front of the board/mat.

Put it all together you should be able to do a back handspring.

Now, handstand.

Use a wall. Go up into the handstand on the wall. Stay there for 10 seconds, 30 seconds, and longer every time. After a while you will learn to stand without the wall and learn to balance yourself. If you arms aren't strong enough lift some 2-3 pound weights 10 reps each 3 times a week.

Hope it wasn't too complicated and hope I helped.

15 is definitely not too old to learn these types of skills. Most gymnastics clubs now offer just tumbling and trampoline. You might also look into taking a high school or an "adult" class (usually 16 and up). These classes typically do more tumbling than anything else. The class is more specialized for learning the specific skills each participant wants to learn.

try it on a trampoline. if you can't, go to your nearest gymnastics club, ask if they offer floor exercise training only, and tell the coach what you want to learn. break dancing is also another way to learn. or try jumping into a foam pit to get the feeling, then to a sprung floor, then to a normal floor. but always, ALWAYS, with a trained professional with you. age is no question and as long as you're physically fit and able, then there should be no problem in learning. the progress is up to you.

get a trampoline and practice. then you got to get up the balls to do it on the ground, but if youre used to a trampoline you should get it hte first time...if not, get ready for a neckbrace.
