What role, if any, should entertainment celebrities play in American public life?

To use their celebrity status for good, i.e. making or keeping visible certain issues, or fundraising for worthy causes.

I completely agree with impress.... entertainment celebrities and no reason for celebrities should not have to play a role. The up side is that they also should not have any obligation or responsibility as role models.
For example, if you choose to be a dentist, what you do in your private off the clock life is your business as long as it does not affect your work. Why should someone who picked acting or singing have it different. On the other hand, why does being a good actor or having a nice booty, qualify anyone to pass wisdom on other topics.
