Absolutely. While I am not saying if she is or isn't guilty, the increased media attention required the Indonesian judge to be much harder on the sentencing.

These sentences are every bit about politics as they are about guilt or innocence.

Ms. Corby's sentence in no way relied on the sentences of the Bali 9. So many people interferred (including the media) that the judges decided to throw the full weight of their law at her, to prove that they would not be swayed in their decision and to make an example of her.
