You need some to teach you.-You will need to "listen" to your engine-One of the hardest things to do is to start with 1st gear-You will need to master your clutch on uphill.

I'm 16 and I just bought my first stick shift and I drove it on back roads where there isn't alot of traffic and I have it down pat and I have only had the car less than a week. Practice makes perfect. Get to know your clutch, even point, RPM's, ect. and you'll do fine. Good luck!

If you can swim, you can drive a stick. One foot up and one foot down... Nice and slow until you get the right rythem.

My uncle put me at the bottom of a hill with a stick'd Jeep and when I got to the top (hours later) I could drive anything!

Good luck

Just practice. You'll get the feel for it in a day or two. Remember to press the pedals smoothly. Once you get the hang of it it's like riding a bicycle. Man, I miss driving a manual.

sit in the driveway and practice where the gears are. then have someone who knows how to already drive around with you. i know sitting in driveway shifting gears on a car that isn't even running sounds silly but, it worked for me.
