I have a small space for a lawn, currently being occupied by weeds, would like to replace with something green, no mow. I would like something different, I thought I saw a magazine article about some people used a korean grass, looks kind of hairy, wavy, furry, required no mowing. Any ideas? I am in southern california.
thanks!

Buffalo grass can take some walking on. I've seen it thrive in Los Angeles, and I've seen it die horribly, too, so it's likely more particular than most people seem to be willing to say.

If you don't walk on it much, you can also use chamomile or dichondra. The finely cut shape of the leaves of the chamomile will look furry. Dichondra is not much furry, but it will grow in shade.

If you aren't walking on it at all, then use freeway daisy or gazania; both have dense leaves and are drought resistant, and as a bonus they'll flower for you.
