Many years ago in s/africa there was a craze in using supermarket bags to crochet bathmats etc. Does anyone know how to fold the bag and cut it so that it unfolds in one long piece. I have forgotten as this was nearly 30 years ago.

Try this site as it has a section on plastic bag crochet.
Hope this helps.

It sounds fascinating but I cannot see the point when I can buy a set of absorbent bath mats for under £15. If you start the craze here I can see a knock-on effect where people will have to pay a fortune for a supermarket bag to bring home their shopping. Please think of the less well off and don't do it!

I don't remember these at all but I did find a link.

Once you get to this link you'll need to follow two others, one for the instructions, and another for cutting the strips. I wish I'd known about this when I was a girl scout leader!!
