I think it depends on the reason. If the eviction is due to him being old enough to fend for himself and you want him out Talk to him and explain what's going on. My son is 19 and I have told him as a single mom I need his help and he needs to get a job and at least pay his way or move out. If there are other issues as with my older daughter (IE. drugs, running the street, treating the family very badly, drinking ect.) I just plain told her to get a place and get out or straighten up. I served no written notice just verbal with the infuses on she can always come home if she flys right or really has no where to go & if she pays her own way and helps out at home. Good Luck

Depending what state you reside in. It's a known fact that if someone is staying with you, the police can not make you leave because it's your residence at this time also. I'm not sure about the court procedure, but they might say if you had a verbal agreement to stay until September then you are allowed to stay. My question to you is, why not just leave. If someone opened up their home to you and now they are asking you to leave, then you should leave, you have no argument. It's bad to tell someone to up and leave, but they have that right it's their property that they are paying for. If you had your own apartment and your landlord gave you an eviction notice, sure you can fight it and stay there almost up to six months after the notice (court process takes a while) DON'T MAKE ANYONE FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE IN THEIR OWN HOME, THAT'S WRONG.

Why do you think you have to write an eviction letter to remove your 18-year old son from your home?
Put his clothes and other personal assets out of your house (on the lawn or in the street), change the locks on the doors of your house, and don't answer his phone calls or letters. When someone calls for him, tell them he doesn't live at your address. When mail comes for him at your house, mark the correspondence "not at this address", and return to the post office.

Do it through a court system legally, or you could be in trouble for throwing him out. He could just stay and cops would not throw him out unless it was life or death crisis situation. Since he is already ther you just can't say get out, if it is his established residence. Talk to your local family court for guidance and referrals.
