I would like to add to what ultimateking06 said about Battlefield 2. Great game, lots of tanks and such. Also lately alot of "war" pc games have been being made, such as scenario games relating to WW2, D-Day, Iwo Jima, etc.
Some of these games, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, have tanks in them, but I think the main idea with alot of these games is being based upon working with squads and going through small parts of different wars. Recently I noticed there is a war game that relates to Iraq, Somalia, Afganhistan, etc. But if you want tanks per se, then go with Battlefield 1 or 2.
Hope this helps!

Well theres a cool game called battlefield 2,and it has more than tanks,it has helicopters and hummers.Youre a soldier and you fight for your country.
You can also play online with other people just join a team, choose a side, location, and choose the type of soldier you want, and kill people around the world with some allies on your side.ITS A LOT OF FUN

Although I am partial to Call of Duty: United Offensive, I'd have to say the best ones are the old ones. M1 Tank Platoon, Steel Thunder.. I'm surprised they haven't remade them, they we're truly great simulations.
