Im 40 & I know times have have changed alot with both spouses working & sharing the chores of the household, but if you could (depending on if you're a woman or man)would you want to go back to the times of the late 20s when the wife stayed home and kept house while the man worked & supported the family. I really would but I think I'm one of the very few?

you don't necessarily have to make 200,000 a year. we simply made a decision to give up some of the things many folks feel they can't live without like brand new cars, etc, also learn to be creative and resourceful. i wouldn't trade being home with the kids for anything and I have plenty of opportunity to get out there and deal with people (church, 4-h, etc.) and I wouldn't have time to watch a soap opera even if i wanted to! We live on a farm and there is PLENTY to do! As for the old days...I think I should have been born a hundred years ago...

Unless you are making $200,000 a year, this society does not support a wife staying at home and the husband going to work besides. I if I were married I would like if my wife worked as well even if it was part time. Going out in the world and dealing with all of the crazy people is something a person should do.

BTW There is no such creature as the good old days.

Thanks for the 2 points

I often think I would much rather stay at home and do housework than go to work every day. But I think if I did that I'd get really bored and start feeling very unfulfilled. I'd get sick of having no money of my own too. You always want what you can't have, eh?
Being a housewife in the 20's would be a lot harder than it is today aswell. There were none of the modern appliances that make housekeeping so much easier these days. On second thought, I think I'm happy with the way things are : )

I don't wish that they would come back nessicarily, seeing as they're close to 40 now and feel differently, but I don't like 21st Century Breakdown as much, I wish they would go in a different direction than that. Even Foxboro Hot Tubs was better. I agree American Idiot was awesome stuff, but you don't get to have enough fun or originality with 21st Century Breakdown, and that's what Green Day used to be about.

I love the culture from the 50's and back. I think it would be interesting to visit but I'm not digging the whole wife stay home man go work thing. Oh well I suppose I coulda been one of those feminest with their crazy ideas on woman's rights.

Yes and no. Yes, because it seems like everything was simplier then, but no because women have so much more freedom. I love how I am not forced to get married and get a job right after I graduate high school. I love going to college, going to parties, and enjoying life while I can.

I also love the fact I am in school majoring in something I never knew existed, and I can not wait to put my future degree to good use. By going to college, I found an interest and spark for something I never thought I would do.

I tried to find out when the good old days where. It is easy to Idealize the past and not think of the stuff that was not so good. If you start checking old headstones and seeing how many young women died in childbirth, or children died of curable diseases as different picture starts to emerge. Much better is to try to make things better now. Don't let people turn the clock back to where a lot of people died every spring because barnyard run-off poisoned their water supply.

start voting for people who represent your interests, even at the local level. you can change the world.

That would be nice to go back to the time when the women stayed home and the menfolks made the money as long as the men don't like their superior to women. Working at home is a full time job (no pay or thanks) itself X2.

My wife does stay home and care for the children and the House. Thats the way she and I want it. So yes, I do want it that way, at least in my own life and relationship.

So...just do it. Go without everything you enjoy now & live that simple life, there's nothing stopping you. Remember what the folks back then lived without, I talked a lot to my grandparents & they had it just as rough.
