Yes, you can: in fact, they are reputed to be smart, gentle, and lively and entertaining pets. I have heard that they can be litter trained, though it definitely requires patience.

You will, of course, have to de-scent it (a surgical operation that removes the scent glands at the base of the tail), and you might have a little more trouble finding a vet than you would for a cat. But it's definitely possible.

well not just like a cat they still have lots of their wild instincts even if they were hand raised from birth(like the hibernation thing). and you might not be able to legally keep one, check with your local animal shleter on the laws reguarding that or your vet. if they are not legal a good alternative is a ferret they are very close in relation both are in the same family. but agian check if they are legal to keep as pets. ferrets have lost almost all of there wild nature a skunk if turned lose still can surve on it's own(my dad had one before i was born and he told me one day he let it out to play a week later it came back looking fatter than ever!) but ferrets on the other hand can't fend for themselves well. and NO they are not wild animals theyhave been domesticated as long or longer than cats. the only "wild" ferret is the endangered Black Footed Ferret they are slowly being reentruduced to the wild hopfuly they can be taken off the list soon! check out ferretuniverse.com for more info on the lovable little wuzzles

Why the hell would you wnat to treat a wild animal like a house cat. Skunks are NOT PETS! They will bite, scratch, hiss, mark territory, and destroy your furntiure. It doesn't matter if you raise one from a kit, they are not going to be domesticated and it WILL retain wild instincts that you can not get rid of.

Vets will not give shots to pet skunks because their bodies can not handle the vaccine.

You should stick with cats and dogs and leave wild animals were they belong. Dispite wha you have heard and how cute they are skunks are not domestic.

I'm not sure if you can. Certain states have certain laws about raising a wild animal. Best bet is to ask your local vet or game commision officers. If you can raise a skunk, you have to have it fixed and have it's glands removed so that the skunk is unable to spray it's natural "perfume". Plus get all of it's shots as well.

Good luck and I hope I was some what helpful.

I do not believe you can cause a skunk gives off a foul order and cat do not. I would raise a cat than a skunk.

Of course! You can have their stink glands ( not sure what they are called) removed too. Skunk pets are becoming quite common, one even appeared on a commercial for PBS! He was so cute! There are many pet skunk clubs too, on line especially. Check out the link, it's great!

we bought a baby still being bottle fed (already descented) and we also had a cat with a litter, the cat adopted the skunk and finished raising it for me! the skunk was a good pet until night time, when we went to bed she wanted to play and she would keep us awake...everything was fine until winter came..she wanted to hibernate even though she was inside, she got confused and vicious! and did some damage to furniture and floors (she dug through the carpet and halfway through the floor)
better think twice before you get one

Definitely!! My husband found one in the wild when it was about the size of a coffee cup. We took it directly to our vet and had his scent glands removed. A really amusing and enjoyable pet. When I would sit down, Pepe, the skunk, would race my 2 year old son to be the first one in my lap. It was hilarious to see. They are a really beautiful animal and stay clean.

talk to your vet approximately legalities of preserving a kinfolk skunk; the farm that used to sell them in Ontario grew to become into closed down by way of the government asserting it grew to become into unlawful. From what I undergo in ideas, they make very stable pets. they don't have "alpha" concern, in spite of the undeniable fact that, so do no longer freak out on it if it makes blunders. they do no longer react nicely and can be somewhat vindictive. Oh, and you're meant to hold them around lots whilst they're youthful. It enables them "mixture" with you bigger. i do no longer know in the event that they imprint with people yet you are able to attempt that when it extremely is on sturdy nutrition. in case you propose on preserving it, have its glands bumped off as quickly via fact the vet says it extremely is secure. in case you do no longer plan on preserving it, call a flora and fauna reserve or rescue team to make certain what to do. i could save the little bugger; i've got needed a skunk considering i grew to become right into a baby!! 8-)

No
skunks are wild animals that bite and they spray this stinky odor all over people and they would have to bath for at least a month or two to get rid of the foul smell
