Yes, air pollution has even caused extinction in some species. For example, lets say the habitat for an insect was the bark on an old oak tree. This is a great habitat as it is a mechanism for defense. The insect is the same color as the bark and its predators cannot see it. When pollution enters the equation the bark turns a darker color and BAM! the predators can locate the insect leading to its demise and subsequent extinction.
