Yeah, I guess I'm " Old School " Born in 1959.

I think we were raised better.

We learned to say please and thank-you,
we didn't .. interrupt, talk back, disobey or act disrespectful to our parents, or any other authority figure.

We went to school every day and actually learned our 3R's,
Reading, Writing, and Arithmatic. We had to be able to name all 50 states, their capital, what they produced etc. We knew Countries, History ( my High Schooler knows nothing about the Cival War. ).
There were no guns, knives etc at School, no need for them.
If you had a beef with someone, you fought with fists, and 9 times out of 10 you wound up being friends with them.

If you weren't in School, you were outside. Riding bikes playing games, putting on plays, using our imaginations. We didnt have to be afraid to be out, everyone knew you, there was no danger. But we had to be IN the house when the street lights came on. It wouldn't occur to us to blatantly stay out thinking what are the parents gonna do about it?
It was a simpler time, you knew who you were and what you had to do.
Kids now are coddled. They have all kinds of fancy electronics that keep them inside, up late, and on their fat a$$es.

AND THEY ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING!

We have a generation that has an excuse for everything.
Oh, he has ADD, he's insecure, he had a bad childhood, his brother used to hit him, the teacher didn't like him, kids made fun of his pimples, etc. The list is endless, because nothing is his fault.

These people are going to be looking out for us in our declining years? Heaven Help Us.

Yes, I'm old school. Born in 1960-child of the 60s, teenager of the 70s (I can so relate to the tv show That 70s Show). I guess I define it as being raised in a completely different time from now. Different pop culture, different standards. It really was a more innocent time back then. (Hence my nickname "flowerchild"). Peace! :)

i've been around for about a half a century and have seen a lot of societal changes. i think "old school" would mean being reluctant to accommodate changes and sticking to what you got used to at an earlier age. you can be chronologically young and still be old school, and you can be getting on in years and not fit the bill. it's a mind set more than anything.

Someone who is wise in the ways of past generations. Someone who knows about and lives life in a way popular from the past? I don't think I am.
