If you are talking about a typical kitchen sink then try disconnecting the trap under the sink between the two drains. Get a bucket small enough to fit under the drain trap, but large enough to hold the amount of water that is still inside the sinks, if any. The typical plastic drains will sometimes clog where they come together. Clean out the trap and if that doesn't do it, travel further down the pipe until you can find the clog. Process of elimination. Or you can give up and call a plumber! Good luck with this one!

If the sink is located on the outside wall then there should be a clean-out plug on the ouside of the house. Take this plug out if water comes out of this then run a snake down the drain line until you clear the clog, If no water comes out then the clog is between the sink and the clean-out. You will need to take one of the traps off and clean it from the inside...................good luck

You only choice is to remove both sides of he drain, and clean them.( you can get them from lowes or home depot. Use the kind that has a squeezeable tube on the end.).
If the clog is in the main pipe it will not do you any good to remove the sing piopes, you need a snake . you can rent them .

Take your right hand and place it palm down over the drain. Hold your fingers together and slightly "cup"your hand. Take your left hand and place it over your right hand also palm down. Now with a up and down plunging action----use your hands as a "cup" plunger. This is a little "trick" I try before I bring out the big help. You may have to take the p-trap loose under the sink and clean it out. Have fun ----------.
