Gather up all the info you can.

Submit claim to you insurance company. Give them all the information you have. It is important to have the information on the other car.

That's what you have insurance for. The two insurance companies
will come to some kind of agreement.

Was there damage to both cars?

If there is a cause for taking it to court the insurance company will do it. If the case can't be made against the other party you will be out your deductible. If there is a case for court the insurance company will sue for all damages including your deductible.

The location of the car is something else. The position where your car is being hit is much important. If your car was hit at the rear bumper, then that guy cannot deny in court that it is his fault. If the guy hit the car at the front, you should establish his position how he did such. Second, try to investigate if the person who hit his car has a valid driver's licensed or the licensed of his car is valid and there is any insurance, if not, you got a great argument and very strong chance to win the case. If you go in court, please bring some props, like a two pieces of toy cars that represent the car of your child and the other guy, by this, the court will know and will have a picture of everything. Dont be confused that the car is in a private property, it is the owner of that property who should be complaining not the guy who hit the car and for other case.

1) If there were any witnesses at all, find them.
2) If there were any witnesses to the other driver taking responsibility, find them.
3) I hope you have pictures of both cars from the accident - so that you can point out that it would be impossible for your son to slide his car door sideways into the guy's bumper.

Let your insurance company deal with it - it is their job...it is what YOU pay for... get the car fixed... work with the agent.

all the best
