Polytheism is the best word since it means the belief in many gods.

Because the Greeks worshipped all these different Gods in different orders and different ways I think it never really formed an organised system with a single name.

There is no particular name that survives to this day, though there are some names or phrases that tie to particular disciplines the Greeks practiced and the stories attached to the gods. Wikipedia describes some of these well. "Ta theia," in particular, means "things having to do with the gods" and might be the term you seek.

"Paganism" is a later term imposed to describe the beliefs of people who lived in the countryside.

The Greeks had many different religions, or cultic worship practices (e.g. Isis, Aphrodite, Demeter, Dionysus, Apollo, Zeus). The best description would be paganism.

Hellenism. The name of the people who brought the sky gods who lived on top of Olympus. Similar to Hinduism. In fact; they are together under that title, " Hellenism and Hinduism ", at wikipedia.

"Greek mythology" is probably the best term.

They were pagans, in that they worshipped a different god or gods than you do (probably). That's the definition of pagan: one who's god is different from yours.

They were polytheists, in that they had multiple gods.

And they were cultists, in that you could if you chose worship one particular god over others, with a series of specialized rituals dedicated to your own favored god.

do no longer forget approximately, the Greeks have been polytheists. All gods have been genuine to them, even those of alternative international locations. the only people they had issues of have been people who basically believed in one god. in all risk, the Greek faith became referred to as "the religion".
