A lot depends on what type of "dirt" you are needing to clean. If it is just regular cleaning you need yea it is great. But are you cleaning grease? mud & grass? food stains? Also do you want to use special additives and stain removers in addition? (BTW - I believe Tide powder is better than anything, I don't think the same of Tide liquid and I also don't think it is worth the price.) Anyway, I gave up all the additives and stain removers and started using ERA, also a P & G product and quite inexpensive. I spot treat with it also, 99% of the time it takes care of every laundry problem I have with 1 wash.

According to Consumer Reports Tide liquid is the best laundry detergent and has been for years.

It's ok. I've used it for about 2 years, but they were out when I went this week. I bought liquid Xtra instead (also at Wal-mart), and it works SO much better. It's cheap, too.

With 5 kids and a mechanic in my house I use it all the time. It is less expensive, smells great and gets the job done.
