Being a man means you have a Y chromosome and youre at least 18 years old.

Masculine means having the traits typically associated with males.

Macho usually means overdoing the masculinity, like rodeo guys abusing farm animals to compensate for some easy-to-guess shortcoming.

Jock is a slang term for an athlete. No, a golfer is not a jock.

I think that being a man can mean several different definitions.
It depends on your back ground. Some people think that being a man is getting up to go rob a bank and then giving ur wife the money to go buy food and stuff is a man and then u got some people who think that getting up early in the morning to be a hitman for someone or organization is being a man. Well, I think that being a man is exactly what my man does ever damn day from 6am to 4pm He is a laborer that works out in the elements weather it is raining, sleeting snowing hailing and lightning or too hott or too cold ... He's there. Andhis pay shows me that when its pay day I am the one he brings his check home to. Yeh thats a man ..Getting up early and going to work regardless of how his night was before or whethter or not he has a low fever or his leg has a big bruise or his arm is wrapped up like he was in a war... yeh thats a man to me

Do you mean when someone says "be a man?"

If so there are many definitions.

--Be courageous
--Stand up for what you believe
--Take a risk
--Be honorable
--Keep your promises
--Pursue a higher goal (work, career, schooling basically improving on the gifts God gave you)

Having a macho or jock attitude usually means a person is acting like a shallow bonehead, in my humble opinion.

Being masculine, to me, means being strong-willed, having fire in your belly, keeping in good shape, being gentle towards women, and being courteous and helpful to everyone.

A man is an adult male that is able to survive on his own in the world. Not meaning like in a jungle, but in day to day life. He stands up for himself when necessary, and has compassion in his heart for the young and weak.

Being masculine refers to associations to the male gender

Macho (machismo actually) is bravado meant to impress or intimidate.

A Jock, is someone whose main focus is on athletic competition.

What does it take to be a man?
What does it take to see
Its all heart and soul
A gentle hand?
So easy to want and so hard to give
How can you be a man
till you see beyond the life you live?
Oh, what does it take to be a man?

We can be blind, but a man tries to see
It takes tenderness
For a man to be what he can be
And what does it mean
If youre weak or strong?
A gentle feelin
Can make it right or make it wrong
What does it take to be a man?

The will to give and not receive
The strength to say what you believe
The heart to feel what others feel inside
To see what they can see

A man is somethin thats real
Its not what you are
Its what you can feel
It cant be too late
To look through the hate and see
I know thats what a man can be

to be a man one must "do right by the ones they love and always lend a helping hand" a jock is a sports guy, masculine is what you get from producing testosterone, and macho is Fonzi.

Taking on new responsibility, reaching puberty kind of.. So being a jock or masculine has something to do with it but very little..

Being mature, knowing what choices are right and what are wrong... Able to take care of yourself and your body, as in not trashing it with McDonalds and taking a shower everyday and such...

Etc...

You need brains to go with brawn.
Nowaday, being a man to provide to a family need more than just physical fitness. It takes intelligences to make enough to feed a family.

So, wise up and pump up.

It means to be tough, muscular, strong, and not a p*ussy. Also, politics are important. A real man doesn't HAVE to be a Republican, but no self-respecting man should be a Democrat or anything "left-leaning." Leftish politics demand that men be pansies.
