Of course, anyone in their right mind would hate it. Sometimes it is not really appropriate or necessary for both to attend...considering whose family the "event" is for. When it must happen, look your best so you are confident...make sure your spouse does too. Hold hands and hang tight with your spouse...the ex probably won't enjoy watching that for long...maybe they will "learn their place" someday and stay home!

um....can u tell I have an "ex-wife-in-law"?

I am often around my husbands ex wife b/c they have a son together. She isn't my favorite person in the world and it was hard for me at first. But, I love my step son very much. My husband and I got married when he was one. I would never do anything to hurt him. Children pick up on these things. I didn't want to have to act like I liked her everytime I was around her, so I put myself aside and learned to like her. Instead of looking at all of her faults...I tried to look at the good things about her. Like how she is a good mother to my step son, and she doesn't get upset about he and I being really close. So, it really doens't bother me anymore.

A lot of it has to do with how you feel about her, not what society says that you have to feel about her. Sometimes the relationship with your current did not work out and he feels the need to bad mouth her. Sometimes you just feel resentful that you were not in the forefront of his love life. All said and done...make your own choice. She and you may actually have more than a man in common. Which does not mean that you have to be best friends...just not enemies!!!
