Inspiration isn't to be searched for. It just comes to you when you least expect it. But that isn't to say you don't need to work for what you want. So you don't really need to turn anywhere. Take a step back from everything, away from what's in the present. Look at the bigger picture. Just continue on, and you'll eventually hook onto something.

Ah, yes. I've been there. My girlfriend doesn't understand when I call her my muse. Every so often I'll walk up to her, give her a kiss and say "thank you." She'll claim to not have done anything but I know better. Unfortunately while we weren't together I found it nearly impossible to create. It's like there was something missing. One day I woke up and realized that I was causing my own block. I got so used to having her as inspiration that I subconsciously decided there was no possible way I could do it without her. After that it was just a matter of forcing the block out of the way by writing anything and everything that came to mind. Eventually I was able to get back into the swing of things and found inspiration elsewhere. Obviously we got back together and she's resumed her role as my own personal muse, but I know I don't have to rely on her for that any more. I think we're both better for that. Basically what I'm saying is do some soul searching and find where your block is coming from then force it out of the way. That will allow a new muse in.

You can make inspiration happen, although it's nicer when it happens from the outside. To make it happen you just work at the ideas you already have. Write them down, draw them up, keep going until what seemed like nothing starts to come together and you see a few different somethings there in the mix.

You know the old saying, art is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration.

Nature.

Perhaps Anne Frank said it best:

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature.

Myself, as I've sent my muse packing.

It is obvious that she prefers Lilith Green over me.

(I was in a scriptwriting contest where I got pasted to the wall. Lilith Green came in second, fifth and seventh. Her 4th script came in 15th)

Truthfully, it has always varied throughout my young life. I never get 'down' for too long, due to my faith in God, but my inspiration comes from varying sources. At the moment, it comes from an amazing new friend of mine. When you have so much in common, it spurs you on to discover new joys in your life.

Often times other peoples art, mostlikely not in the same media you are working in (copy right issues) but nature, and you own relationships are also good spots to look.
