Its up to you hon! Some have a tenderness after giving birth, even with no stitches. When I had no stitches, with my daughter, it was only two weeks until I had sex and there was no pain.

normally it is recommended to wait 6 weeks but if you feel ready, go for it... just make sure that you use birth control because you are much more fertile so soon after giving birth and you could very easily end up pregnant again

The rule to that used to be 6 weeks, but they changed it to 4 weeks. So 5 weeks is ok if you had no problems and you are not in pain at all at this point.

Yes, it is safe. But, I would use birth control unless you want to end up pregnant again right off!!

Five weeks is a long time.
I think you are safe...
It seems like they recommend six weeks but I am certain no one ever makes it that far...
As long as you feel comfortable I think you are safe.

If you feel like your up to it - I know it's usually recommended that you wait up to 6 weeks (in order to heal), but if you are usually a fast healer and want to give it a try - but take it slow and don't be surprised if you aren't quite as ready as you expected. :-)
