I had them for two years. And I am glad to this day my mom made me get them. I've seen some horrible teeth in my years! Anyway the weird things at first is that your mouth feels very SMALL... Because the braces are on the outside of your teeth. Food gets stuck in them, so you want to brush often and it helps to use those little floss/pick things that come in a bag... They hurt after the orthodontist tightens them but it's not too bad. I had fun picking out the colors for the rubber bands. Don't ever get white bands, they turn yellowish if you drink a lot of coffee or smoke! After they are taken off, your mouth feels really weird, like its loose or too big for your teeth! But you get back to normal quick so don't worry... it's not as bad as everyone says it is!

I had braces for 2 years... there really isn't too much to worry about them. If you are a teen or a child, having braces at your age is as natural as a kid with glasses (just different rules). If you are an adult, you'd be surprised by how many adults have braces.

Anyway, the first 2 - 3 weeks upon having them are really painful. I don't know why you need braces in particular. What they did to me was close up the small gaps in between my teeth and fix an overbite that i had. All in all, after the first two weeks, you won't even know that they are there... honestly.

hope everything works out for you.

I had braces for two years. I was freakin out too when I first got them. When the ortho first puts them on it feels so weird. You can taste the glue. They don't start hurting until the next day. You feel like you can't eat anything. You have to take pain killers! But I don't want you to freak out. After you get used to them it's almost like a normal everyday thing. Just make sure you never have anything stuck in them. And it sucks when you break a bracket. Floss everyday too! lol ok sorry for the long answer.

At first your teeth are numb but arter a week or 2 you get used to it then u have to wear a head gear only if you have an over bite. then ruber bands same answer you'll get used to it and it will take about 3 or 4 years if your teeth are bad like mine were or 1 or 2 years . dont think that your a freek your the same person in side.

hi! I've had braces twice, and i have my phase 2 on right now. They are very uncomfortable when you first get them on. Before you go you should deifinitely take ibuoprofen...about 3 tablets. im 13 so if ur around that age take 3. unfortunately you will be VERY sore the first about 4 days. You wont be able to eat anything for about 2 days, so good news you'll be living on milkshakes and jambas if ur mom likes you! haha jkjk. and its very hard to deal with them at first. i was very self concious when i first got them. if someone teases you...tell them to go *******themself. haha jk! ppl shouldnt make fun of you....cuz everyone has braces at some point, right?

well good luck! its not horrible once you get used to them. i wish you well my friend!

its totally fine, i'm getting mine off in about 2 months, i am sooo happy, lol, but here's the process: when you get them on, the glue tastes very nasty, because they glue the bracket to your teeth, and its disgusting, lol, but it goes away when you rinse your mouth, it hurts a little, or maybe a lot, it depends on how your jaw is structured, but it is worth it, i just had an appointment the other day and my teeth still hurt, but like i said its worth it beacuase in the end you'll have a beautiful smile :) but always keep your teeth clean, brush your teeth even when it hurts, i have a friend who doesn't and its disgusting, lol hmmm...what else...oh food, try to not eat crunchy food, or hard food, but if you must , you can, just be careful when you chew because you can lose a bracket, that happened to me once, it just fell off when i tried to eat an apple, lol. After a while, you forget that you have braces, because you are so use to them but the process is a pain, like going to the orthodontists office and waiting to be seen, but like i said its worth it, hope this helps! and don't worry, just relax, its actually not that scary. Hope it goes well for you! good luck!

i got my braces off in march, but here is how it worked for me... the first 3-5 days, your teeth hurt a lot and you need to eat soft foods. no hard, sticky, or chewey candy, popcorn, or gum. (sugar free gum is good, espesially trident) brush your teeth at least three times a day, or after every meal. floss twice a day. if you take good care of your braces, you will love your teeth in the end! i love mine! good luck with your braces!
