A yield sign is telling you to yield the right-of-way. In most instances one usually slows down. Depending on whether or not there is a vehicle they need to yield for will determine if they need to stop or if they can keep going safely.

Well... generally I check and see if there's anything to yield for. If there is, I yield appropriately. If there is not, I maintain my current speed.
