Hey everyone!
I have to do a slide show on a current scientfic technology and how it relates to the general public.
Anyone have any interesting ideas for a topic?
Science is not my thing and I can't think of any ideas!!

I think the largest use of scientific technology for the general public would be hybrid automobiles.

You could do a show on how the scientific technology of seismic(earthquake) recording/prediction relates to the general public as far as being able to warn them of impending natural disasters such as quakes, tsunamis, or volcanos. And/or you could talk about the scientific technology of weather prediction and how it relates to the general public in their preparedness for hurricanes on the move, everyday driving conditions, lightning storms, hale, tornadoes, etc. Hope this is helpful.

How about sun spots and how they affect radio waves and communications. Or carpal tunnel syndrome in young people due to time spent on game systems and text paging folks. Or why don't sharks get cancer? If you put a cell phone in a tank with a shark and had it transmitting will the shark get cancer from it?

Plastics is very scientific and we have lots of technology. Plastics are used in just about everything in one way or another.
